I used to take photos at lower resolution so I can get more on the disk (showing how long I’ve been using digital cameras.
Ed Shields, a photographer friend of mine, said – you’re never going to take that photo again (time change, people die, you never want to have to return to that location)… take it at the highest resolution possible, then resize it if you want.
Thank you Ed – that was superb advice.
Though I can save photos in RAW format, I’ve taken to shooting each photo RAW + JPG (highest resoloution)
Each day (sometimes several times a day) I save each day’s photos into their own folder. That makes it MUCH easier to find photos – particularly for recurring events such as Halloween – it’s how I easily found the photos I posted on the blog.

WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING
Be SURE to save the resized photos in a DIFFERENT FOLDER
CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION
I always keep the ORIGINAL photos in a safe place, and back them up When I want to watermark/resize them, I COPY them to a different place That way I can always go back to the originals
