We’d just finished dinner at Lalime’s, our favorite restaurant, when Carol said … let’s drive down to 4th Street and see what’s going on at the new Apple Store on 4th Street.
I figured it would also be a good occasion to bid a fond farewell to parking spaces.
A small group of people and a photographer were milling outside 1823 Fourth Street … the new Apple Store. I asked what was going on, and they said that the window covering was about to be removed.
This is “first light” from the Apple Store. Not quite a Hubble experience, but it put a gleam (if not stars) in my eyes.
Here’s to Insanely Great shopping and tax revenues for the City of Berkeley!
If you’re in town, I’m meeting some friends at Spenger’s Fish Grotto at 1919 Fourth Street on Monday 22 Aug at 12:30 pm. You’re welcome to join us for a no-host lunch. Afterwards, we’ll make a pilgrimage to the new Apple Store.
Jerry Kidd will be joining us. He writes “After lunch we will walk over to the new Apple store in Berkeley where you can watch me buy a new 13″ MacBook Air and Thunderbolt Display for Diane Zennie Gilfether.”
If people are interested, I’ll then be leading a brief tour of my favorite 4th Street Shops, Cafes, Murals, Berkeley Amtrak Station, Book Stores and more!
Here’s what awaits you on Fourth Street.
