Photos of Ernest Hemingway’s Key West Home – a location scout sent me these because HBO Films is doing a movie and they’re looking for a home in the Berkeley Hills.
We love Bay Area Architecture, so movie and location scouts periodically contact us when looking for just the right home. I told Alex Pearcy, the Location Scout, about our Berkeley Blog Cast Blogm and he sent me these photos (more here) and asked me post this for him.
Hi Ira,
Thanks very much for taking the time to speak with me yesterday. As I mentioned, I am scouting locations for “Hemingway & Gellhorn” for HBO Films. The production is based in San Francisco and will be filming in the area beginning late Feb. of next year.
I am looking for a house to play as Ernest Hemingway’s home in Key West Florida. Attached are a few reference shots of the home. I realize this type of home is not at all typical of the Bay Area.
What I’m hoping to find is a home (maybe Mediterranean, Hacienda style, stucco?) that feels older. His was late 1800’s/early 1900’s. I’m looking for larger rooms and higher ceilings, large windows with arches and a swimming pool, if at all possible. The home does not need to be a fancy, just larger and period. A neglected or unrestored home would be of particular interest to me.
Please let me know if thins rings any bells in terms of homes you’ve worked with or heard about in the area. Please feel free to share this on your blog. I can be contacted either by phone or email at the contact below.
Many thanks for your time and help with this production.
