Thanks to Dave Peattie, I found out that the Berkeley Disaster Preparedness Neighborhood Network is making Go-Kits for emergency preparedness.
We just ordered a kit via PayPal from the BDPNN Web Site.
Join us!
Our custom-made Go Kits were such a hit last year, we’re doing it again, but we’re making it easier!
The Network is a volunteer-driven group promoting emergency preparedness in Berkeley. As a non-profit, we need to raise funds to keep in operation. Last year’s Go Kit fund raiser allowed us to buy a video camera and wireless mic to record our quarterly meeting speakers so we can post those talks on the website. It also allowed us to continue to print and provide disaster prep pamphlets and other information and to participate in events like the Solano Stroll. In the future, we want to expand our outreach beyond our email list in hopes of promoting prep in under-served
communities in Berkeley.
This year, we will be offering Go Kits again. We are asking for donations of $75 or more. As a thank you gift, we will give you a single-person three-day survival kit, and $25 of it is tax deductible. It includes:
* 2400-calorie food bar
* 12 water pouches
* Survival blanket
* 1 N-95 dust mask (filters out even fine dust particles)
* Poncho
* Hygiene supplies
* Body warmer
* Cold pack
* Flashlight w/ batteries
* First aid supplies with booklet
* Whistle
* Family emergency plan for and information pertinent to seniors
* 1 light stick
* 1 pair goggles
* 1 small room duct tape
* 1 12” crow bar
* 1 multi function knife
You can go to our website (www.bdpnnetwork.org ) and make a $75 donation via Paypal OR we will start taking orders at our June 30th meeting and accept payment by cash or check. Orders will be accepted through July 15th. If you want to order by mail, please send a check made out to “BDPNN” for $75 to BDPNN, Box D03, 1791 Solano Avenue, Berkeley 94707, and a receipt will be mailed to you. Pick up date and location will be announced later. Please include your phone number and email in your order so we can contact you. Thanks for your support!
