We negotiated an inspection contingency removal for our seller, so decided to treat ourself to another nice night out.. the second time we’ve been to Berkeley’s Hillside Club in a week.
BAHA – Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association – sponsored a talk “A New Deal for the East Bay: Excavating the Buried Civilization of the Great Depression” by Gray Brechin.
Berkeley’s Rose Garden, High School & Auditorium, East Bay Regional Parks, Civic Center Park, and Fire Station on Cedar Street are just some of the ways we benefited from the New Deal.
They’re working to add more sites in the East Bay, so I suggested integrating databases of New Deal Projects with those of the Art Deco Societies across the US.
The best slide of the evening? The bumper sticker
“ROOSEVELT: Now More Than Ever”
Here’s where to go for more information about California’s Living New Deal Project.
