Berkeley
Neighborhoods
In 1974 I moved to Berkeley to work as a Chemical Engineer for Chevron Research. On New Years’ Day 1975 I took a walk in the Berkeley Hills … wearing a T-shirt (unheard of in New York in January!), and felt the warm sun, the fragrance of flowers saw the spectacular bay in winter light and knew I’d found my home. And thus, we named our site BERKELEYHOMES and created the BerkeleyHomes.com website!
Berkeley is a wonderful place to live – amazing restaurants (our favorites are small neighborhood places) and food, farmers’ markets, festivals, bookstores, libraries, movies, theaters, and performance spaces.
And the weather? It rarely gets too hot … or cold … and the humidity is always relatively low.
We have a diverse collection of neighborhoods – The Berkeley Hills has spectacular views, residential Elmwood/Claremont and North Berkeley have large stately homes and great restaurants, Thousand Oaks, where we have lived for the past 30+ years, is home to amazing rock formations. Nearby Northbrae was named one of the “Great Neighborhoods in America”.
Here is a detailed neighborhood list from Wikipedia
So … visit the wonderful neighborhoods and see what each has to offer you!
