I love reading, and creating maps.
At today’s open house at 625 Colusa, a visitor asked me – where would I find the homes on larger lots?
A great question – and since I’ve geocoded (a fancy word for finding the latitude and longitude) of years of Berkeley MLS Sales research, it was an easy question to answer.
First step – figuring out what how lot sizes were distributed. I just searched my FileMaker Pro database for Berkeley Sales, then exported the lot size.
Here’s the graph.
I figured if the median (half more, half less) lot size was 5,000 sq ft, then 7,500 sq ft lots or larger would be about the top 25% in size.
And these maps show that the Berkeley Hills and Elmwood/Claremont neighborhoods are where homes on large Berkeley lots are found.
